Reasons To Play Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – The Fate of Atlantis DLC

Assassin's Creed Odyssey: Fate of Atlantis DLC

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – The Fate of Atlantis DLC ~

a downloadable gameplay expansion pack for Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, which was released on April 23, 2019. It is the second out of two expansion packs for the game, alongside Legacy of the First Blade.

Why you should play:

  •  A fascinating story that lies within the ancient realm of the gods.

As the story of Fields of Elysium unfolds, you traverse the paradise of Elysium, an realm of great beauty of colorful vegetation, to reveal sinister secrets of the great mysteries that lie within the ancient realm of the gods. It is an adventure set in the idyllic afterlife locale of Greek myth.

As you explore Elysium, the realm of Persephone, you encounter terrifying beasts of myth, and forge new bonds with a colorful cast of characters. You interact with both new factions and familiar characters, and acquire new legendary weapons and gear. The larger premise is fascinating, asking you to win the Persephone’s favor while working to create trouble for her as well.

This works on a macro level, but the individual exploits of Kassandra/Alexios don’t always have big payoffs – the idea of liberating controlled soldiers to build a rebellion feels especially rushed and ambiguous. However, even if a particular quest falls flat, the general direction of the story has plenty of weird sci-fi mythology to keep you playing. ~Game Informer

  •  Gorgeous ancient Greek backgrounds

The Fate of Atlantis gives you a fantastic realistic world. According to Ubisoft:

Much of the team was enthused with building the fantastic worlds because we’re so used to building realistic worlds. From a creative perspective, that was incredibly rewarding.

Indeed, Ubisoft did a wonderful job bringing out the natural beauty of Ancient Greece with high plateaus, colorful gardens, improbable waterfalls and advanced ancient technology. Elysium’s sights and sounds provide something lovely to observe on your way towards your objectives.

Explore an entire country full of untamed environments and cities at the peak of Greece’s Golden Age.

  •  New Gameplay Challenges

Fields of Elysium introduce you to enemies who can drain and freeze your adrenaline bar and block your access to some abilities. You can unlock different abilities in multiple categories, including assassin, warrior and marksman by hunting and killing your opponents who often come in large groups. However, following the first story arc, Legacy of the First Blade,  The Fate of Atlantis provides you with all-new ability enhancements, which modify existing abilities to alter their function, giving you the opportunity to further fine-tune your play-style.

Following the main game, players will have to complete the questline Between Two Worlds, the mythological main game story arc, and Heir of Memories, the Lost Tales of Greece questline that is available after completing the former questline. Finally, they must have reached character level 28 or above.

Otherwise, players will be able to use a shortcut created specifically for those who would like to play The Fate of Atlantis and who do not fulfill all the above conditions. Thanks to this shortcut, players will enter Greece level 52 with preset Abilities and resources enabling them to start their adventure into the afterlife with the Lost Tales of Greece questline Heir of Memories. They will also have the opportunity to choose their hero. However, contrary to the previous option – players’ progression using the shortcut will not carry over to the main game save, and they will not be able to obtain achievements.

    •  Rewards

In the fairly large Elysium, you have to hunt and find the opportunities to unlock new gear and ability points. You find shrines that are home to smashable Marble Maiden Tributes statues of Persephone, and outposts which most of them are “massive, labyrinthine complexes filled with treasure”. All have an objective known as the Torches of Hypnos, mind-control beacons that need to be destroyed with arrows. Some of the statues , the Kolossi, come to life when you are close enough to them so you must be extra careful and quite fast to destroy them. Every time you smash them you get rewarded with ability points. You also get enhanced versions of four existing abilities (Battlecry of Ares, Bull Rush, Slow Time, and Rain of Destruction), which increases their power and usage.
